Here is a space for us to discuss the group as a whole, what stories do, how networks can create good things, and manage the threads and workspaces.

  • What do you like about collecting stories?
  • What would you like to see more of in the stories?
  • What would you like to do with the stories we collect?
  • Should stories focus on impact on the world or impact on/inside people (of both)?
  • How should we manage the collection of stories?
  • What questions do you have?

Keep in mind there are more threads than are viewable in the group home page. Use the main workspace to find people. (I need to alpha the list I have there.)

So far we have, from me and others, posts about how people were impacted by these individuals or organizations. I look forward to seeing stories of impact on the world too.

I am toying with the idea of creating a visual history of the community using the stories collected here, so I like hearing about the connections people have.

Here is a clean take on why I am doing this. It may expand as other possibilities surface:

  • Use stories to create a visual history of Onet showing connections between people and projects
  • Uplift and appreciate the good work people do--a thank you, a way to honor.
  • Allow people to get to know others--Norbert's post about Mark Grimes is a very good example of how this can be used to inform people--what do you count on Mark for--he has a high reputation, what created that?
  • Create a collection of stories from many perspectives on how online community can work and good things can happen.
  • Show the accomplishments that being part of this network has enabled, catalyzed, or otherwise touched.

I am fascinated with the idea of mapping through stories, a network that comes to life through rich connections created over time. It's strange yet familiar that so many of my strongest friendships and alliances have come from Omidyar Network conversations, and I always look forward to the next one, and the next friend made in this space.

Thank you Jean for helping us connect the dots. You are very gifted at visualization and trust that you will find a way to weave these stories with grace and integrity.
