Omidyar Network launched a new funding project with the omidyar.net community on October 30, 2006.

• In this project, we'd like the omidyar.net community to help us distribute $5,000 each to nine different nonprofit organizations. Unlike past funding projects on omidyar.net, we'd like the community to first decide on specific thematic funding areas and then to choose organizations within those funding areas.
• The decision-making will be done through two rounds of voting - one round to decide the funding areas and another round to decide the specific organizations within the chosen funding areas.
• The formal process began on Oct. 30 and the final decision will be made on Nov. 22 just prior to Thanksgiving.
